Youth Leadership Conference: Youth in Action
Are you ready to step out into leadership but now sure how to get started? Come and listen to youth who have stepped out into leadership and been successful. Hear how a youth started his own popcorn business, or a youth who started her own company to help reduce the amount of plastic in the oceans and save sea turtles, or another youth who started his own bee keeping business. They and other youth will tell what they are doing now, how they got started, and what, if any, challenges they faced.
On Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 10:00 am – 2:45 pm, University of Illinois Extension will host the Youth Leadership Conference: Youth in Action at the Freeport Public Library, 100 E. Douglas Street, Freeport, Illinois.
“Youth are going to learn about other youth’s leadership successes, and hopefully it will inspire them to step out into leadership”, stated Kelly Lafferty, 4-H Youth Development Educator for University of Illinois Extension – Unit 1, “to help the youth along, we are doing a community service project where the items made will be donated to a local animal shelter”.
Youth Leadership Conference: Youth in Action is open to all youth ages 12 to 18. Registration is $10, and participants are asked to bring an old t-shirt (that can be cut up) for a community service project. Lunch will be served. Registration deadline is November 18.
