Winter Sowing with Kane County Master Gardeners

Registration is now closed.

Winter-sowing is a cost-effective, low-maintenance way of starting plants outdoors, in winter, for next year’s garden. Seeds are planted in upcycled or recycled containers that act as “mini greenhouses.” Frost-tolerant native plants and perennials are great options to withstand the cold temperatures of early winter. Join the Kane County Master Gardeners to learn more about this technique, see a demonstration, and create your own sample to take home and get a jump on spring and fight the winter gardening blues.

Meets: Nov. 8 | 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Location: Kane County Extension Office, 535 S. Randall Road, St. Charles, IL 60174

Cost: $5 per person |  Registration required | Space may be limited

Note: Please come dressed to work with soil, and bring an empty, clean gallon milk jug (preferred) or another large plastic, sealable container (such as a 2-liter bottle) to use for the project.

Questions: Contact Danielle Stojan, Program Coordinator, at stojand@illinois.edu or 630-584-6166.
