Who Was Here? Winter Wildlife Tracks

This registration has been archived.
Bundle up and bring your family out to Fugate Woods with us on Saturday, February 3rd from 1:00-3:30 to look for winter animal tracks and signs, led by Scott Saffer!  It may be cold, but many animals are still active and their tracks tell quite a story.  Come out and discover some of those stories with us at this partnered event with the Prairie Lands Foundation.  Be prepared for winter weather with warm clothes and boots or shoes that can handle some mud and possibly snow.  We’ll start at the Dominy Library in Fairbury before heading to the woods. In the event of bad weather, the program will be held indoors at the Dominy Library.

Scott Saffer has many years of experience of field work researching insects, mammals. birds, prairies, and reptiles and amphibians in Idaho, Arizona, New Mexico, and Illinois.  When he's not helping on a prairie reconstruction in Kempton, he's probably planting trees, collecting rocks, launching rockets, or catching insects with his classes at Tri-Point Junior High School.

If the weather is good, we will learn which animals match the tracks, hike in the woods to put our learning to the test, enjoy light refreshments, and see how we make our own tracks!
If the weather leads us to stay inside, we will still learn which animals match the tracks, Make-A-Track activity, test our learning with a few games, enjoy a fun craft, and finish up with light refreshments.
