Water Streams and Waste Streams Webinar

November 11, 6-7 PM Webinar
Water Streams and Waste Streams
Presented by Aaron Wilson, Illinois Wesleyan University

Streams, from local creeks to major rivers like the Illinois and Mississippi, play vital roles in central Illinois. They are essential for water drainage, transportation, and recreation, but human activities often place unexpected stress on these ecosystems.

Join us for this informative webinar to learn about the basics of aquatic toxicology, including:

  • How human activities transport pollutants into streams
  • The effects of these pollutants on stream ecosystems
  • Emerging pollutants of concern
  • Practical ways to reduce the movement of pollutants into streams

We will focus on research conducted on the Illinois River and its tributaries, along with examples from other Midwest rivers. This webinar will highlight the movement of contaminants through the environment and explore solutions for slowing their progression.
