DESCRIPTION
Each summer as we venture out into our yards and natural areas we are reminded of the potential for contact with ticks and tickborne diseases. Join Dr. Sulagna Chakraborty for a discussion of where ticks and tickborne diseases have been found in Illinois. She will address how climate change may affect them in the future and how that change may impact us as we explore the outdoors. She will also discuss personal protective measures and landscape management that can protect people and animals from ticks and the diseases they transmit.

Dr. Sulagna Chakraborty is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Medicine at the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign. Her research focuses on ecological and epidemiological drivers of vector-borne and zoonotic diseases. She is also interested in how human behavior, climate change, and environmental factors can impact pathogen transmission.
