The Power of Vermicomposting Arcola Public Library
Youth ages 8–17 are invited to join this two‑session, hands‑on program all about vermiculture, composting, and creative upcycling! Participants will discover how worms help recycle food scraps, reduce waste, and build healthy soil while creating and exploring through fun, eco‑themed activities.
What Is Vermiculture?
Vermiculture is the process of using worms—especially red wigglers—to compost food scraps and other organic waste. As the worms eat and break down the materials, they produce nutrient‑rich castings that help improve soil health. Vermiculture is an easy, sustainable way to learn about decomposition, ecosystems, and waste reduction.
