Summer Clovers 4-H Club


Do your kids need something positive, fun, and engaging this summer? 4-H staff, McHenry County Farm Bureau Ag in the Classroom teachers, and 4-H Ambassadors are offering a summer 4-H club experience that introduces youth to a variety of exciting 4-H project areas in a relaxed, summer setting.

What:
Summer Clovers 4-H Club – a hands-on introduction to 4-H projects and learning

When:
Fridays – June 5, 12, 19, and 26
1:00–3:00 PM

Where:
University of Illinois Extension Office
McHenry County Farm Bureau Building

Who:
Recommended for youth who have completed kindergarten through 4th grade
(4-H ages 5–9 as of September 1, 2025)

Why 4-H?
4-H helps youth build life skills through hands-on learning in science, health, environment, agriculture, and cultural appreciation. The program fosters confidence, independence, resilience, and compassion—helping youth discover their passions and “Find Their Spark.”

Cost
  • $15 – Summer Clovers 4-H Experience fee
  • Youth not currently enrolled in Illinois 4-H must complete annual enrollment and pay the $20 Illinois 4-H enrollment fee at https://4h.zsuite.org, in addition to the $15 program fee.

All youth—both current and new 4-H members—should add the appropriate Summer Clovers club during enrollment in ZSuite:
  • Summer Clovers 4-H Club – Cloverbud
    Ages 5–7 as of September 1, 2025
  • Summer Clovers 4-H Club
    Ages 7–9 as of September 1, 2025

What Will Youth Explore?

This summer club provides a glimpse into the 4-H program and encourages independent learning through engaging, hands-on activities:
  • Agriculture Adventures:
    McHenry County Farm Bureau Ag in the Classroom instructors will share a short lesson and activity each session.
  • Outdoor Exploration:
    Learn about birds, reptiles, mammals, and insects through games and hands-on experiences.
  • STEM Challenges:
    Explore science, technology, engineering, and math with fun problem-solving activities.
  • Cultural & Creative Arts:
    Express creativity through art and cultural activities.
  • Promoting Self-Care:
    Emphasis on social-emotional health and proper nutrition.


Participant Requirements

  • Complete all required forms
  • Dress for the weather; activities will include time outdoors 
    • Wear closed-toed shoes (no flip-flops or sandals)
    • Bring a hat or visor and a sweatshirt or coat if needed
  • Arrive with sunscreen and bug spray already applied
     (Staff are not permitted to apply these items)
  • List all allergies on required forms

4-H age is determined by the age of the youth at the start of last year's school year

Paper copies at the Extension office in Woodstock. Forms may be turned in at the first meeting.
Wear closed toed shoes (ex. PE shoes). No flip-flop sandals. Bring a hat or visor & coat or sweatshirt.
Youth will be preparing and eating their own healthy snacks.
