Live, work or play in the LaSalle?  You are invited to participate in a 3-part community planning event for the City of LaSalle.  The City’s goal is to better understand the community and its residents’ needs and/or wants over the next ten years in the areas of quality of life, tourism and economic development.  The City hopes to incorporate input from the planning sessions into its ten-year plan.

The planning will take place each Tuesday evening from September 19 to October 3, 2023 and will be facilitated by U of I Extension, Community & Economic Development Specialist, Pam Schallhorn.  All three of the planning sessions will be held from 5:30 to 7:00pm at the Knights of Columbus (2nd floor) located at 209 Gooding St., LaSalle, IL.  Refreshments will be served.

Who should attend?  Anyone interested in planning for the future of LaSalle including local government officials, not-for-profit representatives, business owners and interested residents of LaSalle.

Session #1 on Tuesday, September 19, Curt Bedei, Economic Development Director for the City of LaSalle will explain what the City hopes to accomplish during these sessions.  The planning process will begin with a discussion of the resources that already exist in LaSalle in the areas of tourism, quality of life and economic development.

Session #2 on Tuesday, September 26, participants will be asked to provide ideas they feel are important for future projects that could impact the City’s tourism, quality of life and economic development.

Session #3 on Tuesday October 3, members of the community will discuss and select action items for inclusion in the City’s plan.

If you have questions about the planning process or if you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in this program, please contact Pam Schallhorn at pscha2@illinois.edu.
