The University of Illinois Extension Logan County Master Gardeners will host Russel Allen Garden Day on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Oasis Senior Center, 2810 Woodlawn Road, Lincoln. The event will run from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm, with registration from 8 to 8:45 am. The public is invited for this event that will feature various presentations related to gardening.

Native Trees and Much More, Mason State Tree Nursery
A landscape that contains properly placed native plants with year round seasons of interest is more ecologically sound and interesting than traditional landscapes. Learn about native trees and shrubs that will provide habitat for Illinois Wildlife. Presenter will also include information on the history of Mason State Tree Nursery, what they provide and volunteer opportunities.

Easy Orchids: Growing and Propagating Orchids
Tips to growing orchids include selecting the right plant and providing the right light, fertilizer, growing media. and watering. Presenters will share their experiences with orchids.

Diversifying the Farm
Ioerger Family Farms has been around for 150 years. Their diverse farming operation includes a 15 acre garden and a 20,000 square foot greenhouse. Anya will share a season of growing on the farm. She will share information about this year round flower and vegetable farm operation which includes hanging baskets, succulents, lettuce, strawberries, beets, cut flowers, green beans, zucchini, watermelon, peaches and much more.
