Rooting for our Urban Forest

Sorry you missed us.

Join Emily Swihart, Horticulture Educator University of Illinois Extension for Rooting for our Urban Forest on THURSDAY August 22nd at McGehee Center, 1043 4th Ave, Silvis, IL from 5:30-8 p.m. as you learn how how planting a tree can provide you benefits as a homeowner and how those benefits extend to your community. A few of the many benefits to be discussed include heating and cooling benefits, property value increases, mental health gains from green landscapes, and more.  Learn about tree equity and learn yours.

By participating, attendees are able to earn a tree to plant in their landscape so benefits can begin to be realized. Illinois Extension will provide continued support to new tree owners as you plant and care for your tree.

All community members are welcome to attend. Homeowners whose property is in a neighborhood with a tree equity score of 80 or less are eligible to receive a tree upon completion. A limited number of trees are available, and we will prioritize addresses with the lowest tree equity score. Check your tree equity score here: https://www.treeequityscore.org/map#11.76/41.5261/-90.4336
