Preserve the Harvest: Tomatoes | Montgomery County

Got more tomatoes than you know what to do with? Turn that garden overflow into something you can enjoy all year. In this hands-on class, you’ll learn safe, up-to-date methods for canning, freezing, and drying tomatoes. We’ll cover how to make and can fresh salsa, when to use water bath versus pressure canning, and simple ways to get the best results from freezing and dehydrating.

You’ll practice making and water bath canning a homemade chile salsa, take home research-based recipes, and leave with the confidence to preserve every last tomato. An adult must accompany any youth under the age of 16.

Where: Hillsboro Public Library - 420 S. Main St. in Hillsboro
When: Saturday, August 1 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Cost: A $10 fee covers all supplies.
