Poverty Simulation | Lake Land College

5th Judicial Circuit Family Violence Coordinating Council and HOPE of ECI, along with the University of Illinois Extension, is offering an experience for participants to walk a mile in the shoes of those facing poverty by participating in a poverty simulation.
The simulation allows participants to assume the role of a low-income family member living on a limited budget. The experience is divided into four 15-minute sessions, each representing one week in which you must provide for your family and maintain your home.
The simulation will be held on Monday, April 21, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Lake Land College (5001 Lake Land Blvd, Mattoon, IL). The event will take place in the Foundation and Alumni Center Room. To participate in the event, we kindly request that attendees bring a few canned goods or paper products, toilet paper, tissues, facial or body wipes, feminine products, paper plates, paper towels, etc., to be donated to those in need. We appreciate your participation!
Register by April 18.
