Planning Farm Succession
The registration period has ended.
Planning for the future of your farm isn't just about crops and livestock; it's about ensuring your legacy and protecting the values your farm represents. To help families navigate the complexities of farm estate planning, the University of Illinois Extension will host a free educational program on Dec. 10th, 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM at the Knox Ag Center and again at 2:00-4:00PM at the McDonough County Fairgrounds, featuring insights from experienced Extension Educator Kevin Brooks.
This interactive workshop will equip farmers and landowners with the essential knowledge and tools needed to make informed decisions about their property's future. Attendees will gain valuable insight on:
· Developing a comprehensive estate plan: Understanding legal documents, land transfer options, and strategies for asset allocation.
· Tax implications and financial planning: Exploring tax benefits, minimizing liabilities, and ensuring financial stability for future generations.
· Family communication and succession planning: Facilitating open conversations with family members, identifying potential conflicts, and establishing a smooth transition process.
· Building a resilient farm business: Incorporating farm management practices and financial strategies to strengthen the farm's long-term viability.
Extension Educator Kevin Brooks brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the program. Brooks is known for his practical approach, clear communication, and ability to address the unique challenges faced by families operating agricultural businesses.
This free program is open to all farmers, landowners, and agricultural professionals. Space is limited, so registration is encouraged. University of Illinois Extension provides equal opportunities in programs and employment.
