Owsley Wildland Forest Tour
Helping Forests Dance
Our woodlands are crying. Tucked into spaces that can’t be cashed into corn or easily bulldozed, they are choked with plants from across the globe. Sick forests struggle to provide for their honored relatives who fly, walk on four legs, swim and crawl. Plus, we have lost our spiritual connection - and our Earth family is suffering.
Come and join Cindy at Owsley Wild Lands where she and her husband Craig have eradicated most of the invasive species on their 38-acre habitat project. On this tour, she’ll focus on her journey to help forests dance again. She will feature a 20-year-old Conservation Reserve Tree Planting that is developing a native understory and a more mature woodland in which plants like native honeysuckle vine, ramps and deer tongue grass are showing up on their own and spring ephemerals dot the landscape.
This half-mile hike looks at various management techniques. We will listen to what Nature suggests as a path forward. You will be intrigued with how you can help create happy woodlands. You are invited to bring a beverage and enjoy s’mores around the campfire with like-minded stewards of the Earth after the tour.
