Opioid Overdose Prevention. Naloxone Training for College Age Students July 23rd, 1-2 pm

The registration for this program is now closed. To find out more about our programs, please visit the Community Health page or the Cook County events page. You may also contact Shannon Towers at 217-265-5700 or sptowers@illinois.edu with questions or for additional information.

The University of IL Extension is offering FREE Opioid Overdose Prevention Training. The program describes the statistics, emerging trends, and how to respond to help participants recognize the signs of an opioid overdose and respond effectively in an emergency.

Opioid overdoses continue to be a serious problem. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office stated there were 1,169 opioid-related deaths in 2024, and the American Medical Association supports students carrying naloxone to save lives.

In partnership with the Cook County Department of Public Health, Free naloxone and fentanyl test strips will be provided to attendees.

You never know when you'll be in a position to help. Learn the signs, carry naloxone, and be prepared to save a life.

At the conclusion of each educational program, attendees will be entered into a drawing for back-to-college must-haves.
