Native Landscape Design Drawing Workshop
The registration period has ended.
Transform your garden into a pollinator-friendly, sustainable haven with the Native Landscape Design Drawing Workshop! This two-part program will guide participants in redesigning a defined garden area in their own yards using native plants. Learn how to create a beautiful, eco-friendly space that supports local pollinators and promotes environmental sustainability.
Part 1 - Online Discussion
Part 1 kicks off with a virtual Zoom session on January 9, 2025, 6:30-7:30 pm, focusing on the critical role of pollinators in ecosystems and various aspects of garden design for pollinator support. Participants will receive instructions for selecting and measuring their garden plots in preparation for the hands-on drawing workshop in Part 2 of this series. Participants are highly encouraged to attend this workshop before attending the second part, but a recording will be available for those unable to attend.
Part 2 - In-Person Drawing Workshop
In Part 2, attendees will apply what they’ve learned in Part 1, during an in-person session of their choice. These workshops, held at various dates and locations in Vermilion and Champaign Counties, provide guidance on drafting a personalized garden layout, selecting plants from curated palettes of native species, and developing a sustainable garden design. Attendees are encouraged to bring measurements of their garden space to this session so they can lay out plants in a real-world design. A hypothetical design can also be developed in this session, if attendees don't have a planting location identified. Basic drafting tools will be available for use during the workshop.
Part 2 - Drawing Workshop Dates:
- January 16, 2025, Vermilion County (Danville Public Library) 2-5 pm.
- January 30, 2025, Champaign County (Extension Office) 2-5 pm.
- February 6, 2025, Champaign County (Extension Office) 6:30-8:30 pm.
- February 13, 2025, Vermilion County (Extension Office) 6:30-8:30 pm.
Join us to create a garden design that’s not only beautiful but also creates a vital resource for local wildlife!
