Mindfulness Hike at Farmdale Reservoir

We are sorry but the Mindfulness Hike at Farmdale Reservoir is full. If you would like to be placed on a waiting list, please contact Ainsley Olsen at ainsleyo@illinois.edu.

Slow down, step outside, and reconnect with the present moment.
Join us for a series of guided Mindfulness Hikes designed to help you unwind, sharpen your senses, and deepen your connection to the natural world. These gentle, all-levels walks invite participants to notice the sights, sounds, textures, and rhythms of nature through simple mindfulness practices and guided reflection.

Each hike will take place at a different scenic location, offering fresh experiences and new perspectives along the way. Whether you're looking to reduce stress, spend more intentional time outdoors, or simply enjoy a peaceful walk in good company, these hikes provide a welcoming space to breathe deeply and be present.

Come as you are, comfortable walking shoes and curiosity encouraged.

Join us at Farmdale Reservoir for a Mindfulness Nature Walk led by Kim Cooley and Renee Mordhorst, Master Naturalists. They will take participants on the hike and gather a few natural gifts along the way for a water mandala "activity" during the meditation. Participants should expect a 1-2 mile easy hike, although there is a 50 ft stretch that includes walking along a steep, narrower path. If someone does not feel comfortable with that part of the trail, they will have an alternative experience for them. During the hike Kim and Renee will teach about the history of the area and guide participants through an immersive "Forest Bathing experience" of sights, sounds, feels, and smells. The mindfulness hike will end next to the creek for a short, guided meditation and sweet treat or beverage for the taste immersion experience.
