Mindfulness Hike at Dixon Mounds
Slow down, step outside, and reconnect with the present moment.
Join us for a series of guided Mindfulness Hikes designed to help you unwind, sharpen your senses, and deepen your connection to the natural world. These gentle, all-levels walks invite participants to notice the sights, sounds, textures, and rhythms of nature through simple mindfulness practices and guided reflection.
Each hike will take place at a different scenic location, offering fresh experiences and new perspectives along the way. Whether you're looking to reduce stress, spend more intentional time outdoors, or simply enjoy a peaceful walk in good company, these hikes provide a welcoming space to breathe deeply and be present.
Come as you are, comfortable walking shoes and curiosity encouraged.

Join us at Dixon Mounds for a Mindfulness Nature Walk led by Kim Cooley and Renee Mordhorst, Master Naturalists. They will take participants through a 1-2 mile hike through walnut, oak, and osage orange woods. During the hike they will teach a little history of the area and guide participants through an immersive "Forest Bathing experience" of sights, sounds, feels, and smells. The Mindfulness Hikes will end with a short meditation and participants can create their own work of art with natural paint after reflecting on their experience. Supplies will be provided, as well as instructions on how to make their own natural paint at home.
