"Wow! Did You See That One?: Meteors, Meteor Showers, and the Perseid Meteor Shower hosted by the McLean, Livingston, and Woodford Master Naturalists.
Join the Illinois Grand Prairie Master Naturalists, in joint partnership with Prairie Lands Foundation, at the Fugate Woods Preserve on Saturday, August 10 from 7:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. to watch the Perseid Meteor Shower! Local astronomer Paul Pouliet will be our "guide to the sky" during this FREE star-gazing event. Paul is a lifelong lover of all things astronomy, an avid visual observer, and one who enjoys sharing his love and enthusiasm for what can be seen in the sky.
We will be meeting at the southside of the preserve, at the Fugate Prairie Land, near the Boy Scout Pavilion.
To reach parking from Fairbury, head east on US 24. Before PTC Alliance, turn left onto N 2300 E Rd, then right onto E 900 N Rd. Turn left at a gate manned by volunteers and follow the grass road to the pavilion.
Please bring a lounge chair, blanket, warm drink, bug spray, and flashlight for viewing. No restroom is available at this location.
This event is open to all! We ask that children attending are 5 and up.
