Ready to deepen your love of plants and learn directly from horticulture experts? The Master Gardener Hybrid Training is your chance to build practical knowledge, explore the science behind gardening, and gain the tools to help others grow in your community.

In-Person Schedule
9:00 to 10:30 am- Lecture plus Question-and-Answer session with Illinois Extension Educators

Sep 29- Insects
Oct 6- Trees and Shrubs
Oct 13- Annuals and Perennials
Oct 20- Vegetables
Oct 27- Diseases
Nov 3- Lawns
Nov 10- Fruits
Nov 17- No in-person session
Nov 24- IPM
In-person sessions held at McDonough County Extension Office 3022 West Jackson St. Macomb, IL
- In addition to the in-person sessions, this training also uses an online learning platform and consists of numerous videos and online content, as well as weekly readings. Therefore, a sufficient internet connection is highly recommended for trainees.
- Trainees can expect to spend at least 4 hours per week working on the online content on their own time in addition to the in-person training.
$150 course fee covers all training materials and Master Gardener manual.
By completing the Illinois Master Gardener training program, participants have the opportunity to become certified volunteers and apply their new knowledge in meaningful ways throughout their communities.
Master Gardener volunteers are more than gardening enthusiasts. They are trained horticulture educators who share research-based knowledge and serve their communities through educational programs, demonstration gardens, and outreach projects.
