Introduction to Invasive Species Management
The Introduction to Invasive Species Management is a two day, certificate-earning course. It is a hybrid course with one-day of online learning (August 5th, 2025) followed by a field day (Multiple field days, scheduled between August 6-9, 2025).
The target audience is early career natural resource professionals, landowners, volunteers, Master Naturalists, and anyone interested in gaining experience with invasive species management.
The online day covers the basics of invasive species ecology, invasive plant identification, and management principles. The field portion provides hands-on opportunities to identify invasive plant species, see the commonly used tools for invasive plant management, and view demonstrations of management techniques applied in a real-world field setting. Multiple field days are scheduled throughout the state and attendees can choose which one they would like to attend. Participants will obtain a certificate of course completion from the University of Illinois Extension upon attending both the online portion and one field day. Registration fee is $20 and lunch is included for the field day portion.
