Indian Kitchen - Lusk Creek Canyon Ecology Hike 10/20/2024

We're sorry, registration has closed for this event. We hope to see you another time soon.  Please contact Kevin Rohling krohling@illinois.edu to be added to the waitlist.

Learn about plants, wildlife, and nature as we hike through this ecologically important and very scenic area. Portions of Lusk Creek Canyon are owned and managed by the Shawnee National Forest with sections also designated as Wilderness Area and Zoological Area and Illinois Department of Natural Resources with portions designated as an Illinois Nature Preserve and National Natural Landmark.

We will meet at 10:00am at the Indian Kitchen Trailhead parking lot (37.50628, -88.56097). The trail is around 3.5 miles in length, moderately rugged, and there may be significant equestrian impacts including sometimes very muddy conditions that can make hiking difficult. Bring a water and snack if desired. This is a joint event of Illinois Extension and the Shawnee Group of the Sierra Club.
