Illinois Extension Climate Stewards Course Fall 2024
Thank you for your interest in the Climate Stewards Course! Unfortunately, we have reached maximum registration. If you wish to be on a waitlist in case someone withdraws, please contact Duane Friend at friend@illinois.edu
Illinois Climate Stewards is a hybrid (on line and in person components) course that will give participants knowledge in climate science, communication, state climate trends and government policy, and climate justice/equity issues. It is expected that it will require 36-40 hours to complete the basic sections, with another 10 hours to cover optional sections. Those who finish the course will receive a certificate of completion. However unlike Master Naturalists or Master Gardeners, you will not be an Illinois Extension volunteer, and there are no background screening requirements.
The course will run from August 19 to November 22. During the course, 3 on line Zoom meetings will be given on September 16, October 7 and October 28 from 530 pm to 700 pm. You are also encouraged to attend these sessions, but these will be recorded for later viewing.
Two face to face meetings will take place locally for participants in regional locations to meet. These will also be evening sessions, and set up with host Extension units to occur early during the course and towards the end of the course .
Six to twelve months after the course, you will be contacted to provide information on climate related activities you may be involved with. This will help us determine course impact.
