Homegrown Harvest

Homegrown Harvest is a series of free, family-friendly vegetable garden workshops to support gardeners through the growing season. These monthly workshops are from 9-10:30 am in the Southside Hill Community Garden, located on the corner of E Lawrence and S Maffit Streets near Johns Hill School. Topics include seed starting, warm and cool season crops, planting, harvesting, soil health, and garden tool maintenance. Workshop materials will be provided, please bring your own gloves and tools. Due to the nature of outdoor programs, sessions may be canceled for safety during inclement weather.

The March 12 session is from 9-10:30 but will be held in the J. Morris Building, 1210 S Jasper St, Decatur, IL 62521. Workshop materials will be provided, please bring your own gloves and tools. Due to the nature of outdoor programs, sessions may be canceled for safety during inclement weather. 

March 12 - Seed starting (J. Morris building)
April 9 - Cool season crops
May 7 - Warm season crops
June 4 - Planting, harvesting
July 16 - Weeding and watering methods
Aug 13 - Soils, composting, and fall seed sowing
Sept 17 -  Tool maintenance, fall garden clean up, planting garlic
