Herbicide Applicator Training for Volunteers 2024

UIUC Extension will be holding a Herbicide Applicator's Training on Wednesday, February 21st from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. Training will take place at the Extension Office Auditorium, 801 N. Country Fair Drive, Champaign, IL 61821. There will be a Zoom-in option for those that cannot attend in person. This training is for Volunteers with the Champaign County Forest Preserve District, Champaign Park District, Urbana Park District, Grand Prairie Friends, Allerton Park, and the Master Naturalist Program. Completion of this training will allow volunteers to use herbicides under the supervision of their group leader on public lands.
Peter Goodspeed, Director of Natural Resources for the Champaign County Forest Preserve District, will be presenting the material.
This program will satisfy the requirements of the Illinois Pesticide Act Section 250.22 - Special Application of Pesticide to Control Invasive Plants on Public Land – and will permit volunteers to apply pesticides on approved projects after completing the training.

This training will also qualify as continuing education credit for active Master Naturalists. This seminar is free of charge, but registration is required. Anyone interested in volunteer invasive plant management on public lands is invited to attend. Only those over 18 years of age are eligible for certification to apply Pesticides following completion of the training.
