Raspberries are one of the treasures we find at farmers markets and if we are fortunate our backyard. Vermilion County Master Gardener, Larry Betout is familiar with these and other berries as he grows several types of fruit on his property. This past year, he started quite a few brambles at Douglas Discovery Garden in Danville. If you are interested in learning more on how to plant, fertilize, prune, and propagate this delicious fruit come out to Douglas Discovery Garden on Tuesday, July 15 at 6pm. Over the years, Master Gardeners have also planted a small orchard with grape vines and fruit trees in addition to a new raspberry patch There are about twenty raised beds in addition to traditional vegetable gardens in the ground. Attendees are welcome to stroll through the garden and ask questions. This program is open to families. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, sunscreen, insect spray etc.
