12:00-12:30- Picnic lunch
12:45-2:15- Station 2-3
2:15- 3:15- Optional walking tours of MG volunteer projects at Allerton Park

Participants will rotate through all three learning stations for an immersive hands-on experience.

  • Station 1: Outdoor Tree Identification Walk with Sarah Vogel and Ryan Pankau, Horticulture Educators

  • Station 2: AI Garden Design Activity with Jennifer Schultz Nelson, Adjunct Instructor

  • Station 3: Outdoor Insect Walk with Sreelakshmi Suresh, Horticulture Educator
You learned about the other bees in your backyard, but what about the other bugs in your backyard? There's always more to see and more to learn in the big, buzzing world of bugs, so take a stroll with Horticulture Educator Sreelakshmi Suresh to experience a unique "free-range" zoo featuring our smallest wild animals.

The cost to attend is $10 and covers light refreshments and all the materials needed for the stations.

The event includes light refreshments throughout the day. Bring your own picnic lunch to enjoy throughout the camp grounds or head down to Allerton's Greenhouse Cafe for lunch. Dress accordingly for being outside in spring weather and some light hiking between stations.

If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate, please contact Ryan Pankau.
