Garlic Mustard Pulls with the Shawnee National Forest

Friends of the Shawnee National Forest, United States Department of Agriculture Shawnee National Forest, and Illinois Extension are partnering up to host garlic mustard pulls on Tuesdays in April and May from 10am - 12:30 pm.  We will break into teams to hand-pull garlic mustard at select sites throughout southern Illinois.

Don't worry these aren't all work and no play kind of days.  After we are done there will be a short guided hike for us to learn more about the botany of the area.  These hikes are optional and will be from 12:00pm - 12:30pm.

If you are interested in attending a Herbicide Applicator Training before the pulls the Shawnee National Forest will be hosting one on February 24 from 9am-12pm at the Hidden Springs Ranger Sation in Vienna.  This is not a requirement for attending these events as we are hand-pulling and not apply herbicide.  But would be useful if you would be interested in other non-native invasives with the Forest Service.

If you would like to learn more about this program contact Anne Townsend at cupquake@illinois.edu.  If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate, please contact Anne Townsend at cupquake@illinois.edu. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time for meeting access needs.
