Presenters:
  • Nick Frillman, Local Food Systems and Small Farms Educator at Illinois Extension will discuss woody perennial shrubs that flourish in diverse landscapes, yield edible berries, and offer creative ways to enjoy those berries in the kitchen.
  • Ryan Pankau, Horticulture Educator at Illinois Extension will share expertise on native and non-native woody shrubs, providing guidance on selecting plants for home landscapes and strategies to promote ecological health along woodlot edges.

What You’ll Take Home:
Each participant will receive woody perennial plant cuttings, perfect for starting your own sustainable landscape. This hands-on opportunity will allow you to apply what you’ve learned and begin cultivating your own shrubs.
