Want to learn more about the plants growing in your forest understory? Join Nick Seaton to learn how to identify some common and uncommon forest understory plants. Nick will take a group, limited to 25, on a 3-hour hike through a forested property and discuss the interesting flora in the understory and some of the keys to identification. This event is provided by the Beginning Forest Landowner Program through U of I Extension Forestry.

Nick is an Ecologist with the U.S. Forest Service (Shawnee NF) and President of the Southern Chapter of the Illinois Native Plant Society. He has a Bachelor's of Science in Forestry and a Master's of Science in Plant Biology from Southern Illinois University.

*Bring your own water and snacks. Consider bringing bug spray since this will be entirely in the field.
*This hike may involve walking on uneven terrain.
*If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in programming, contact the program coordinator Chris Evans at cwevans@illinois.edu. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time for meeting your needs.
