Monday, March 2 & 30 | 4pm-5pm | Carriage House Apartments, Rental Office | 3757 N Portage Pl | Decatur, IL
Digital Lessons Available: March 9, 16, and 23 (no time)

Understanding how food impacts blood sugar can increase your confidence to manage diabetes day-to-day. Join Illinois Extension for two educational sessions to strengthen your knowledge and skills. In between classes, sign up for digital lessons sent by email or pick up printed copies at Carriage House. Carriage House residents and members of the public are invited to attend.

March 2: What is a Carb? Identify foods with carbohydrates and how carbs and other nutrients impact your blood sugar. Practice planning meals that improve blood sugar management using tools like carbohydrate counting and the Plate Method.

March 30: Diabetes and the Heart. Diabetes is a risk factor in developing heart disease. Learn about four categories of nutrients that impact heart health and develop skills around shopping and cooking heart-healthy and diabetes-friendly meals.

Digital Lessons: Desserts, Snacking, and Hydration. Each week, read about diabetes-friendly dessert options, ways to build balanced snacks, and creating a hydration routine.
