Ecological Exploration: Prairies

Join fellow prairie enthusiasts for a guided tour series celebrating the beauty and diversity of our local native prairies. This four-part series will visit four different prairie sites, with one tour offered each month, allowing participants to experience how prairies change and thrive throughout the growing season.

This series offers a unique opportunity to learn from experts while observing a wide variety of prairie plants, wildlife, and management practices in real time.

This program is hosted through a partnership between Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and Illinois Extension.

Prairie tour schedule:
June 17, 2026 at Fairmont Cemetery Prairie, Davenport, Iowa
July 15, 2026  at Munson Cemetery Prairie, Cambridge, Illinois
August 26, 2026 at Scott County Roadside
September 16, 2026 at Brownlee Cemetery Prairie, Mercer County

Each tour will begin at 10:00 a.m. A guided tour will be provided, followed by free time to explore independently.

Space is limited. Registration is required and includes access to the entire series.

We look forward to exploring the prairie with you!
