Diabetes 101
Diabetes touches millions of lives every day. Whether you’ve recently been diagnosed, have been living with diabetes for years, or are supporting a loved one, you’re not alone. With the right information and support, diabetes can be managed, and healthy living is within reach.
University of Illinois Extension, in partnership with the Senior Resource Center, is offering Diabetes 101, a four-week educational series designed to help participants better understand diabetes and the role lifestyle plays in managing it. Participants will explore nutrition, meal planning, physical activity, weight management, stress management, and the importance of working with their healthcare team to improve their health and quality of life.
The Diabetes 101 series offers a variety of topics, allowing participants to register for the entire series or attend individual sessions based on their interests. Classes begin Wednesday, September 2, and continue through September 23 from 1 to 3 PM at the Senior Resource Center, 206 E Stephenson St, Freeport, IL.
“Learning as much as you can about preventing and managing a chronic health condition is one of the most important steps you can take toward living a healthier life,” says University of Illinois Extension Educator Diane Reinhold. “Even small changes can make a meaningful difference, and understanding diabetes is the first step toward building confidence and improving your overall well-being.”
Session topics include:
· Understanding Diabetes and Prediabetes | September 2, 1 PM.
· Meal Planning Made Easy | September 9, 1 PM.
· Heart Healthy Eating | September 16, 1 PM.
