Crossing Garden Education Series
Join the Master Gardeners for our Crossing Education Garden Series. Master Gardeners will go over a variety of gardening topics, such as native pollinators, soils, types of gardens, and more. Each session will be at 10 AM and will be held at the Crossing Healthcare Garden at 320 Central Ave. Decatur, IL 62521. In case of bad weather, we will move indoors to a classroom on Crossing Campus.
March 11- What do I need to Start a Garden
Types of Gardens, types of Containers, soil, seeds, location etc.
April 8- Do I really need native pollinators
why pollinators are important and Why Natives are important
May 13- Let's talk on the Birds, the Bees, the Rabbits and the Groundhogs
Importance of wildlife in the garden, how to coax beneficial animals into your yard, and how to deal with the undesirable animals that find their way in
June 10- What do you do with your Herbs?
What herbs can be grown in Central Illinois, how to grow them, what uses they have
July 8- What do I do with all these Zucchini?
Learn what can be done with an excess of zucchini, okra, and cucumbers. Recipe samples will be available.
August 12- Spiders, drought, and weeds! Oh My!
How do we deal with these and other minor and major irritations in the garden
September 9- Let's put it to bed
How to close up your garden for the year.
October 14- How did your garden grow?
Come share success stories and disappointments. Learn how others are already planning for next year.
