Workshops
Needle Felting (9-10 a.m.) $20/participant
Create an owl with Natasha Lehrer Lewis of Ester's Place. Learn needle felting techniques and be inspired with new ideas for fiber or heritage art projects.
Glass Fusing (9-11:30 a.m. or 12:30-3 p.m.) 4th grade and up. $25/participant
- Colorful Creepy Crawling Bugs
Explore your creativity and create a handmade bug that shows off your personal taste! Learn to work with colorful glass by cutting, nipping, layering and heating. Fused glass is the process of "melting" glass pieces in a kiln to create one stunning piece of glass art. You will create two bugs. Once you're finished, your items will be taken off-site to be fired in the kiln, for pick up at a later date. Disclaimer: The glass and wire we will be using is sharp. If you have safety glasses, please bring them.
Cake Decorating $5/participant per class
- Beginning Food Decorating (10:30-noon)
Food decorating is a fun way to make occasions special by adding decorations to cookies, cupcakes and cakes. In this workshop you'll learn about the equipment and materials used in food decorating. You'll also learn basic food decorating techniques and have plenty of time to practice. This workshop is recommended for members that are new to the Food Decorating project. - Advanced Food Decorating (12:30-2 p.m.)
You'll learn some new techniques and get to practice advanced cake decorating techniques in this workshop. This workshop is designed for members that have completed one year in the Food Decorating project OR have completed the Beginning Food Decorating workshop earlier in the day.
Candle Making (11-noon or 12:30-1:30 p.m.) $4/participant
- Produce your own unique ice candle to take home & let your creativity shine! Bring a clean full sized Pringles can with you.
Original vs Non-original (2-3 p.m.) - No fee
- 4-H Visual Arts is a popular project amongst many 4-H members, but it can be confusing to know or understand the difference between original work versus non-original. In this workshop session participants will be put to the test as we explore what makes a project original work.
Visual Arts 101 - No fee, anytime
- Get creative and make art projects using supplies we have available including painting, drawing, paper art, yarn art, beads, 3D art and so much more. You can even bring a project to work and we will provide the space and time for you to let your imagination soar!
*Must be enrolled in 4-H to attend.
Bring a sack lunch if you are planning on staying all day. Payment, check or cash, will be collected at the door (exact change is appreciated).
