CCMG: Vegetable Gardening From the Soil Up
The Champaign County Master Gardeners invite you to join our program, Vegetable Gardening From the Soil Up
Date: April 28, 2026
Time: 7 pm
Location: Extension Auditorium, 801 N Country Fair Dr, Champaign, IL
Speaker: Chuck Voight
A highly productive vegetable garden requires careful consideration of its location, soil building and preparation, informed selection of seeds and plants, appropriate timing of planting, and consistent and timely care during the growing season. Chuck Voigt will discuss these issues and answer your questions about growing vegetables here in Central Illinois.
Chuck Voigt was a state vegetable and herb specialist for over 27 years, retiring from the University of Illinois Department of Crop Sciences at the end of 2015. He co-authored Vegetable Gardening in the Midwest, which debuted in 1995. In retirement, he grows a large vegetable garden, is a frequent guest on WILL's "Mid American Gardener" program, and remains active in the International Herb Association.
If you have any questions or need a reasonable accommodation to participate, contact Valerie Nicolini at vln3@illinois.edu
