Learn about plants, wildlife, and nature as we hike through this ecologically important and very scenic area! Bulge Hole Ecological Area is owned and managed by the Shawnee National Forest and protects rare species and habitats.
We will meet at 9:30am at the roadside parking along Bowman Bottoms Road (no parking area) (37.50159, -88.88856). The trail is around 3-4 miles in length, moderately rugged, and there is small steep section that may be difficult for some to traverse. Bring a water and snack if desired. This is a joint event of Illinois Extension and the Shawnee Group of the Sierra Club and is being co-led by Kevin Rohling, Extension Specialist, and Kim Rohling, Extension Educator.
This event is free, but space is limited, and registration is required. Sorry, no pets allowed.
