Bringing back Oak Tree Savannahs in Hancock County, IL

The registration period has ended.
The 4-H Green Communities Tree Program is a cooperating venture between Illinois 4-H and the IASWCD Forestry Committee to purchase, distribute, and plant new oak savannahs throughout Illinois. By early April each year, 25 oak trees will be planted on public properties utilizing 4-H youth and adult volunteer mentors.  31 counties planted savannahs in 2022 and 38 counties are planting in 2023.

On April 10, 2023, Hancock County 4-H will be planting these trees near the ball diamonds at the Joe Grate Sports Complex in Carthage beginning at 10 AM.

If possible, please bring your own shovels and gloves. Please dress appropriately for weather - the ground will most likely be muddy.
