This introductory program provides participants with foundational knowledge and practical skills for identifying tree species using morphological and anatomical characteristics. Emphasis will be placed on understanding diagnostic features such as leaf arrangement, venation patterns, bud morphology, bark texture, and branching architecture. Seasonal variations in identification cues will also be addressed, including adaptations for winter identification when foliage is absent. Following the discussion participants will create their own decorative wood "cookie" wreath to take home. All materials are provided, and no prior crafting experience is necessary.
