Bike Safety Day 2026
It's time to get those bicycles out of storage and ready for bike rides around town! Ensure your bikes are in tip-top shape by attending Bike Safety Day, hosted by Edwards County 4-H, Bone Gap Cardinals 4-H Club, and Love West Salem. The event will provide free bike inspections, a bike safety program, giveaways, and snacks from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, at the First Christian Church in West Salem.
Youth are encouraged to bring their bikes for inspection, and repairs will be made if needed. Bike inspections will check pedals, reflectors, brakes, chains, handlebar grippers, and seats. A local police officer will also be teaching bike safety. Youth up to age 18 are welcome to attend this free event and do not need to be 4-H members to participate. Registration is encouraged.
For questions, please contact the Edwards County Extension Office at 618-445-2934. If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate, please contact Debra Collier at djc@illinois.edu. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time to meet your needs.
