Montgomery County 4-H Public Speaking Contest
Held at the Extension office in Hillsboro on Thursday, March 21.
Check-in 5:45pm - Presentations starting at 6:00pm
Enrollment in Montgomery County 4-H and the Public Presentations project is required to participate in this section. No live animals are allowed in speeches. Participating Youth must be 8 years of age on or before September 1, 2023. Participating youth turning 14 years of age on or before September 1, 2023 must enroll as advanced.
Exhibit Guidelines: There are 4 divisions in this year’s contest. Each division offers options that the presenter may choose to make their presentation unique.
Enrollment in the Public Presentations project is required to participate in this section.
Registration required. Register by March 14, 2024
Classes:
1. Formal - Formal Speeches share the presenter’s own unique view and are intended to motivate, persuade, or inform an audience and may include a call to action.
2. Illustrated - Illustrated Speeches may be used to inform, persuade, or motivate the audience while using a visual aid.
3. Oral Interpretation - Original works must be written entirely by the presenter.
4. Original Works - Presentations in Oral Interpretation must be published works, and manuscripts or transcripts must be submitted prior to the event.
