4-H Livestock Skillathon


Join us on March 7 and test your knowledge of all things livestock! 

Christian, Jersey, Macoupin and Montgomery County 4-H programs are excited to host the 2026 4-H Livestock Skillathon Contest. This contest will give youth the opportunity to showcase their knowledge and skills in various aspects of livestock management.

Event Details
  • Who Can Attend: Youth ages 8-18 as of September 1, 2025
  • Location: Susnig Center, 401 Mound Street Jerseyville, IL 62052
  • Date: Saturday, March 7, 2026 
  • Entry Fee: $5 (lunch is provided)
  • Registration Deadline: March 5, 2026

Event Schedule:
  • 9:00 - 9:30 AM Check-In
  • 9:30 AM - Noon Event
  • Noon - 1 PM Lunch
  • 1 PM Awards

Age Divisions:
Youth can participate as individuals and as teams. Teams are made of four individuals. Select age division options below. Age divisions are based on 4-H age which is a youth's age as of September 1, 2025. Two age divisions: Senior 14-18 years and Junior 8-13 years.

Banners will be awarded to the top five individuals in each division and the top three teams in each division.

What You'll Do
Join us for a morning of hands-on, engaging activities, including:
  • Livestock knowledge quizzes
  • Practical judging exercises
  • Identification of breeds, feeds, equipment, retail meat cuts, and hay

What to Bring
  • Pencil
  • Clipboard
