2026 Spring Garlic Mustard Pulls with the Shawnee National Forest
Friends of the Shawnee National Forest, Shawnee National Forest, and Illinois Extension are partnering up to host garlic mustard pulls on April 10th and 17th at Trigg Tower. We will meet on these Fridays from 10 am to 12:30 pm. We will break into teams to hand-pull garlic mustard in impacted areas throughout southern Illinois. At these events, we will be hand-pulling and not applying herbicide.
Don't worry—these aren't all work and no-play days. We will be pulling garlic mustard from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. After we are done, there will be a short guided hike to learn more about the area's botany. These hikes are optional and will be from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
If you would like to learn more about this program, contact Anne Townsend at cupquake@illinois.edu. If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate, please contact Anne Townsend at cupquake@illinois.edu. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time for meeting access needs.
